At the 2012 APEX trade show, ASM Pacific Technology and the American SIPLACE team of ASM Assembly Systems presented their placement technology for the first time jointly on U.S. soil. The focus was on more than surface mount technologies and process improvements, however. Jeff Timms, head of SIPLACE’s Americas cluster, and Leroy Christie, head of process and packaging technology at ASMPT, are discussing plans for even more closely coordinated teamwork between ASMAS and ASMPT.

The positive market numbers set the trend for the close cooperation between the experienced and successful SIPLACE teams. The first results of the global teamwork could be demonstrated at the 2012 APEX trade show. Timms and Christie agree: "There are a few areas where we can still learn from each other. By growing closer step-by-step, we not only achieve sustainable growth, but deliver more benefits for our customers."
Christie stresses that the combination of German engineering and an above-average focus on markets and customers makes all the difference, both regionally and globally. One of the results is the current flagship of the company – the SIPLACE SX-Series. Timms is particularly impressed by the clear and consistent customer focus of his colleagues at ASMPT: "There are very few companies with such a pronounced everything-is-possible mentality as ASMPT. There is almost no challenge which our colleagues will not face for their customers.
