Danfoss produces non-stop

In a joint project the Danish company Danfoss Power Electronics A/S, in Hasselager, Denmark, and SIPLACE realized fully automated product changeovers and non-stop setup changes on the company’s SMT lines. Groundbreaking: controlled by the barcodes on the PCBs moving through the line – consisting of five high-flexibility SIPLACE SX2 placement machines – each machine switches placement programs and conveyor widths as needed.

Demand for custom nozzles and grippers is on the rise

ASM Assembly Systems, the maker of SIPLACE equipment, experiences rising demand for custom-designed nozzles, grippers and feeders. Compared with last year, the volume of inquiries for these products has risen by 40 percent. Special designs are needed when new, complex or highly sensitive components cannot be picked up with standard nozzles or grippers, or require special feeders for efficient volume production.

SMT equipment market showing first signs of economic improvement
Outlook cautiously positive

After a strong showing in 2010 and early 2011, the SMT equipment market posted declining numbers in the second half of 2011 and the beginning of 2012. At the end of the second quarter of 2012, however, SIPLACE's market analysts see first signs of a further economic upswing. New orders and deliveries are especially on the rise in China, which currently accounts for roughly 50 percent of the global market. The rest of Asia as well as North and South America are lagging behind, but a look at the quarterly numbers shows some light growth or stabilization in these areas as well.
