"Made-in-Germany"-Success Story: ASM Assembly Systems The SIPLACE team is a great example for the successful integration of a renowned German company into an Asian mother company – which is why the TV show "Made in Germany" by Deutsche Welle chose to have a closer look at the global Hidden Champion ASM Assembly Systems. In January 2011, the SIPLACE team was bought by ASM Pacific Technology. The new mother from Singapore is the world’s leading supplier of chip assembly, bonding and packaging systems and solutions – which means the two companies complete each other perfectly, as the "Deutsche Welle" television report goes to show. Back in 2011, Experts called the integration of ASM Assembly Systems into ASM Pacific Technology a "Golden Deal". Still members of the SIPLACE team remained skeptical in the beginning, wondering which changes the new mother company might bring with it. More than one and a half years later however, both SIPLACE and ASMPT view the takeover as entirely positive: "Our initial worries have proven unfounded. We really work very well with our new Asian colleagues", says SIPLACE Technology Scout Norbert Heilmann. SIPLACE CEO Günter Lauber, too, is excited about the positive results of the takeover: "Together with ASMPT we can fulfill our goal to become the global Number 1. ASMPT supports us with increasing our presence in Asia, while we can offer a better access to the European market to our colleagues from Singapore. Our working together means to give and to take, and to combine our strengths. It even has become one of our mottos: German Engineering and Asian Efficiency".
